Here is a nice story, for a change. It seems that a surfer was doing his thing at Marina State Beach, near Monterey, California, when a great white shark came along and decided he would do for the next meal. It is quite possible that, had a pod of dolphins not encircled the surfer after the attack, he would have eventually fallen prey to the shark. Instead, they protected him while he paddled back to shore, badly hurt and bleeding profusely, but still alive. I really love dolphins. Such amazing creatures, and people still eat them, and kill them in fish nets. I wonder why they saved this being, a non-dolphin? To be sure, if humans had been in a similar situation, and a dolphin needed saving, we would have allowed ‘nature’ to take its course and the dolphin would have been dinner for the shark.
