Things just keep getting stranger and stranger. Now, you not only have to be concerned about the US government on you in myriad ways, but the burger joint may be out to infiltrate you too. I wrote about this in an earlier blog post, ‘Dumpster Diving for Fun and Profit’, but this New York Times Op-Ed piece adds a little extra information about Burger King. Apparently, they hired a private security firm to keep an eye on a peaceful group, Student/Farmworker Alliance, interested in improving the wages of migrant workers, the ones that pick the tomatoes for their burgers, who earn a pitiful living, some of whom become enslaved and work for nothing.
