Don’t think that pollution laws have taken a trip in the way-back machine? Well, then you haven’t been paying attention to the “trend” since the Bush administration has enacted their vision of an uninhibited industry “self-managing” their pollution on the honor system. Seriously, mwa hah hah. The honor system. Who would ever be so gullible? I, having lived in Pittsburgh in the 1970s, am not. BP wants to put even more pollution into Lake Michigan.

Ok, here is the real point. What idiots would pollute one of the largest sources of fresh water on the planet (our Great Lakes system)? This really is a big deal, and fresh water isn’t getting more plentiful. And before you think of me as being too sanctimonious, I would like to say that the real power to prevent this sort of thing happening is with the people. Do YOU know where your retirement funds are being invested? If not, you just might be helping to bankroll this tragedy.
